On a recent trip to Utah, I ended up in a hotel room facing due east. Since I like to sleep with the windows open and Utah was enjoying a run of stunning weather, I had a week of early wake-up calls as the rising sun spilled through my parted curtains at the actual crack of dawn.
(My desire never to wake up before 10AM is often at odds with my love of sleeping by an open window; luckily, Utah is sufficiently picturesque that it’s hard to be mad.)
One morning, though, clouds and mist softened the sun’s usual piercing insistence into something more atmospheric. I made a lunge for the camera to capture the scene before the sun burned through the fog again:

The valley was real but not-real: silent, peaceful, perfect. The far-off mountains played a mesmerizing game of light and shadow. It was as though all of Utah was in soft-focus, like the beginning of some epic film that will feature lots of people in period costumes riding horses across vast fields. In short, it was dreamy.
This week, we’d like to see an image that looks dreamy to you. A photo of a place you often visit in dreams. A snapshot of your dreamy boy- or girlfriend. A scene that looks a bit out-of-this world. Take us on a flight of fancy!
